The History of Pine BowerPine Bower Baptist Church is located five mile southwest of Cedartown, Georgia. It was organized on July 31, 1897, in a brush arbor near the present location.
The first church was built on land donated by L. Q. West and the Liddell families. It was a small frame buildling and started with 19 charter members. A new frame building was built in 1911. In 1942, the church was wired with electricity and the meeting times were changed from Saturday to Sunday night. In 1944, church services were held one Sunday each month. In 1946, the church voted to begin holding services twice a month. The third sanctuary was built in 1948, with members contributing the labor for the project. In 1952, Sunday school rooms were added to the sanctuary, and for the first time the church had a full-time pastor. The first parsonage was purchased in 1956 and was replaced with a brick home in 1959. In 1985, a garage and two bedrooms were added to the parsonage. |
